Solicitor General Marshal Muchende SC says the New Dawn administration wants to create a number of millionaires in Zambia from genuinely earned income.
Speaking when his delegation paid a courtesy visit at the Zambian Embassy in Berlin, Mr Muchende stressed that President Hakainde Hichilema wants to economically emancipate the people and pointed out that people should seize opportunities in mining, agriculture, tech and innovations.
He said the UNIP government under President Kenneth Kaunda delivered independence and political freedom but it was now time for Zambians to feel the fruits of uhuru through economic emancipation at an individual level.
“Kenneth Kaunda led the fight with many others and on 24th October 1964 they managed to achieve political emancipation but that was not an end in itself, there are other areas that we need to emancipate ourselves and under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema, we want to create a number of millionaires in Zambia from genuinely earned income,” Mr Muchende SC said.
The delegation is in Germany to benchmark and learn best practices with the Germany justice system with the aim of improving legislation in Zambia so as to enhance investment and has so far held engagements with the International Legal Cooperation( IRZ), the Federal Ministry of Justice and the Germany Federal Bar.
Other engagements will be held with the Germany Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the District Court of Berlin.
The Zambian delegation led by Solicitor General Marshal Muchende SC includes officials from the Ministry of Justice, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators- Zambia Chapter, the Zambia Law Development Commission (ZLDC) and the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ).
